GTA 6 Just Got A Jaw-Dropping Sales Prediction

Research firm Newzoo has released ambitious sales projections for Grand Theft Auto 6, predicting the game could generate between $3.3 billion and $5.2 billion in global revenue during its first week following its November 2026 launch. The firm’s base-case estimate sits at $4.5 billion, based on projected sales of approximately 51 million units in the opening week. Even the conservative estimate of 37 million units and $3.3 billion in sales would exceed GTA 5’s launch performance, which generated $1 billion within 72 hours when it released in 2013.

Newzoo’s optimistic outlook is supported by unprecedented pre-order momentum. The game has established the strongest pre-order campaign in history, with approximately $180 million in digital sales generated across the U.S., UK, France, Italy, Germany, and Spain during the first week of pre-orders alone. Globally, the game accumulated roughly $260 million in pre-order spending. Newzoo’s analysis refutes earlier claims that GTA 6 had secured $1 billion in pre-orders, describing such figures as “absurd” and unlikely to occur for any game in the foreseeable future.

Pre-orders for GTA 6 opened on June 25, and the early figures suggest unprecedented consumer demand for a video game release. Newzoo’s estimates are derived from its proprietary Game Performance Monitor, lending analytical weight to the projections despite the wide range in forecasts.
