Claims about GTA 6 pre-orders are incorrect and “absurd”, analyst firm says, but it’s still had the “strongest pre-order campaign ever recorded”
Grand Theft Auto 6 has generated an estimated $260 million in global digital pre-orders during the first week of its pre-order campaign, according to data from analyst firm Newzoo. The figure breaks down to approximately $180 million across the United States and five major European markets (UK, France, Spain, Germany, and Italy), with the remaining $80 million estimated from other regions worldwide using player distribution patterns from GTA 5.
Pre-orders for the highly anticipated title launched on June 24-25 and are priced at $79.99 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S as a digital-only release. Newzoo describes this as the “strongest pre-order campaign ever recorded,” positioning GTA 6 as a commercial juggernaut ahead of its November launch.
Based on comparable pre-order trajectories, Newzoo forecasts that GTA 6 could generate between $3.25 billion and $5.2 billion in cumulative sales by the end of its launch week. These projections underscore the massive commercial potential of Rockstar Games’ flagship franchise, which continues to dominate the gaming industry’s sales landscape.
