Mystery Booster Commander Combines Two Of Magic: The Gathering’s Best Things, And I Can’t Wait
Wizards of the Coast announced Mystery Booster Commander during MagicCon Amsterdam, unveiling the studio’s full 2027 roadmap for Magic: The Gathering. The roadmap includes three new sets and four additional MagicCon events scheduled throughout the year.
Mystery Booster represents a specially curated collection of reprints available exclusively through limited channels, including MagicCon events and occasional Secret Lair releases. Previous iterations, Mystery Booster 1 and 2, featured hand-picked card selections unavailable elsewhere. Mystery Booster 2 notably included the first-ever physical printings of select cards from Magic: The Gathering Arena, alongside reprints displayed in special Future Sight frames.
Mystery Booster Commander builds on this established model by bringing the exclusive, carefully curated concept to Commander, one of Magic’s most popular casual formats. This combination targets players who value both the premium, limited-availability nature of Mystery Booster releases and the broad appeal of the Commander format. The announcement has garnered attention within the Magic community for merging two well-regarded aspects of the game’s offerings.
