Netflix Says Part Of Its Games Business Is Up 600%, But It’s Still Early Days
Netflix reported significant growth in its video games division during its latest earnings report, with key metrics showing strong momentum across both cloud and mobile platforms.
The company released what it described as its two “most successful” cloud game launches ever in June 2026: FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition and the horror title Unhinged. While Netflix did not disclose specific player numbers or revenue figures for these releases, the company highlighted them as major milestones for its cloud gaming efforts.
Mobile gaming showed particularly impressive growth figures. The Netflix Playground app, launched in April 2026 as a dedicated platform for kids’ games, attracted 3x more daily players since its debut. This expansion drove a 600% year-over-year surge in engagement for Netflix’s children’s mobile games overall. However, Netflix acknowledged these gains come from a relatively small base, with the company emphasizing that its gaming business remains in early stages.
Netflix’s broader strategy encompasses both cloud-based games playable on televisions and mobile titles accessible on smartphones and tablets. The company frames these efforts as part of its content diversification strategy, though specific subscriber numbers and revenue contributions to the overall business remain undisclosed.
