Fallout 5: Confirmed details (and speculation) about Bethesda’s next post-nuclear RPG

Bethesda has officially reconfirmed that Fallout 5 is in active development, marking the studio’s return to the post-apocalyptic franchise. The project remains years away from launch and is currently in pre-production. Following Bethesda’s development priorities, Fallout 5 will launch after The Elder Scrolls 6.

Alongside the Fallout 5 announcement, Bethesda revealed that remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are in the works, bringing renewed attention to beloved classic entries in the series and supporting preservation efforts for the franchise’s legacy titles.

In parallel, Obsidian Entertainment is also working on a Fallout project. The announcement hints at connections to Fallout co-creator Tim Cain, who has emerged from retirement to contribute to a Fallout-related initiative, likely the Obsidian venture. This represents a significant return for one of the franchise’s original architects.
