Expedition 33, Baldur’s Gate 3 star Jennifer English cancels next role over health concerns
Actress Jennifer English has exited her role as the lead character Gwendolyn in the upcoming game Tides of Annihilation due to health concerns. English had been attached to the project since its reveal at PlayStation’s State of Play event in February 2025, with Eclipse Glow Games announcing the departure on July 17.
English is widely recognized for her voice acting work in major gaming titles, including Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3 and Maelle in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Her portrayal of Maelle in Expedition 33, which launched months after the Tides of Annihilation announcement, earned her multiple award nominations and wins. The role of Gwendolyn represented her next significant lead role in a AAA game.
The studio did not disclose specific details about the nature of the health issue but stated that English would be stepping away from the project. The departure leaves Eclipse Glow Games to address recasting or potential schedule adjustments for the upcoming title.
