Pokémon Go ‘Special Anniversary Pikachu Celebration’ event guide
Pokémon Go is running a “Special Anniversary Pikachu Celebration” event from July 13-20, featuring a rotating collection of costumed Pikachu variants that have appeared throughout the game’s history. The event represents a significant milestone celebration for the augmented reality mobile game, bringing back nearly all of the special-outfit Pikachu that players have encountered since launch.
The event’s primary incentive structure centers around a special Go Pass with 30 core ranks and 30 additional bonus ranks. Players can progress through these ranks by engaging with event content, with costumed Pikachu variants available as pass rewards. Notably, these variants can be earned simply by playing the game during the event period, making them accessible to both free and premium players.
The event employs a rotation system where different costumed Pikachu spawn and disappear every few days, creating staggered availability throughout the week-long celebration. This design encourages repeated logins and engagement across the entire event window. An update posted on July 18 added the final rotation of available variants, completing the roster.
