Bethesda confirms ‘Fallout 5’ and ‘The Elder Scrolls VI’ are built on new Creation Engine 3 — Todd Howard explains the goal to give more power to devs and creators
Bethesda announced that both Fallout 5 and The Elder Scrolls VI are being developed using a new Creation Engine 3, designed to give developers and creators greater power and control over game development. The studio confirmed that Elder Scrolls VI is progressing through development milestones, while Starfield will continue receiving new content updates.
The company also outlined an expanded Fallout roadmap that includes Fallout 5 entering pre-production and a new Fallout spin-off being developed by Obsidian Entertainment. These announcements come as reassurance to the gaming community following recent significant cuts at Xbox and its subsidiaries, which had raised concerns about the viability of major franchises under Microsoft’s ownership. Bethesda’s update appears designed to demonstrate stability and ongoing investment in its flagship IP despite broader industry restructuring.
