Disney sets a release date for Afterlife with Archie series
Disney+ has greenlit Afterlife with Archie, a horror-themed television series adaptation set to premiere on Halloween 2027. The streamer announced the project alongside its creative team, which includes executive producers Warner Bros. Television, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, and Greg Berlanti—the same producers behind the Archie comics adaptations Riverdale and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
The series adapts the 2013 comic book of the same name, created by Aguirre-Sacasa and artist Francesco Francavilla. The story follows the familiar residents of Riverdale as they navigate a zombie apocalypse triggered by a magical spell cast by Sabrina. This adaptation continues the expanded Archie universe on screen, building on the success of the previous two series that brought the comic characters to television audiences over the past decade.
