Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Beta: Dates, Content, And How To Get In
Activision has announced the beta schedule for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, with testing beginning in August ahead of the game’s late October launch. The company is running two testing phases across multiple platforms.
Early access to the beta runs August 21-25 exclusively for players who pre-order the game on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The open beta then runs August 28 through September 1 for all players at no cost on the same platforms plus Nintendo Switch 2, though an online multiplayer subscription may be required. Notably, Switch 2 will not be included in the early access period.
The Call of Duty NEXT annual showcase event takes place on August 21, coinciding with early access launch. During the event, developers will present live gameplay footage, detail the multiplayer content lineup, and provide developer insights into the game’s new additions.
The beta will feature a wide selection of Operators (customizable playable characters), 19 unlockable weapons, and various multiplayer modes including 3v3 skirmishes, tactical matches with tanks, Search & Destroy, a Training Mobility Course, and a new mode called Kill Block. A notable change this year is that Game Pass subscribers receive no special access or treatment during the beta. Pre-orders begin August 26, 2026.
