FBI arrests 21-year-old who allegedly stole $200,000 with malware-infected Steam games and spent the money on traceable UberEats gift cards

The FBI has arrested 21-year-old Zyaire Dontaevious Zamarion Wilkins of Florida for allegedly distributing malware-embedded games on Steam that infected approximately 8,000 personal computers. Working with two unnamed co-conspirators, Wilkins is accused of using malware hidden in free Steam games including BlockBlasters, Dashverse, Lunara, Lampy, and PirateFi to steal over $200,000 in cryptocurrency from infected machines. The games were promoted across social media platforms including Discord, Telegram, LinkedIn, and X to encourage downloads.

The scheme gained prominence after streamer RastalandTV discovered he had lost $32,000 while playing BlockBlasters in September while streaming to raise funds for his own cancer treatment. All of the malware-infected games have since been removed from Steam. According to the FBI’s criminal complaint, the stolen money was spent on UberEats gift cards, creating a traceable digital trail that led to Wilkins’s arrest. The case highlights significant vulnerabilities in how malware can be distributed through legitimate gaming platforms and underscores the security risks of downloading games from unofficial creators.
