Final Fantasy X 25th Anniversary Video Released Ahead Of Switch 2 Launch
Square Enix has released a 25th anniversary video for Final Fantasy X, marking a quarter-century since the iconic JRPG’s original launch on July 19, 2001, in Japan. The timing coincides with a significant platform milestone: Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster is launching on Nintendo Switch 2 on July 23, 2026, bringing the beloved dual-game compilation to the new console hardware.
The Switch 2 release represents a new port rather than an update for existing Switch owners—those who purchased the game on the original Switch will need to buy the Switch 2 version separately, as upgrading between platforms is not supported. While the announcement confirms the title’s arrival on Nintendo’s latest hardware, specific details about performance improvements, graphical enhancements, or other features that distinguish the Switch 2 version from the current Switch release remain unclear. Square Enix is expected to provide more technical information following the game’s launch.
