Ghost Recon Wildlands Definitive Edition Set to Release on PS5 & Xbox Series S|X With New Content

Ubisoft is preparing an enhanced version of Ghost Recon: Wildlands for current-generation consoles. The Definitive Edition will release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X, bringing significant technical improvements to the 2017 open-world tactical shooter.

The upgrade includes 4K resolution and 60 frames-per-second performance, marking a major leap from the original Xbox One version which was locked to 30FPS. The PS5 version will similarly benefit from these enhancements over the PS4 release.

The Definitive Edition will also include new gameplay content—a fresh mission titled “Last Rites” that adds to the original game’s campaign.

The announcement emerged from a leak on the Xbox Store, where the Definitive Edition listing appeared before official confirmation from Ubisoft. Community members discovered the listing details and shared them across social media and gaming communities, including the Ghost Recon: Wildlands subreddit.

This release exemplifies Ubisoft’s strategy of leveraging existing successful franchises through enhanced ports to current-generation hardware. With the publisher navigating challenges in its new release pipeline, updating back-catalog titles has become an attractive revenue opportunity while maintaining engagement with established player bases.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands remains popular nearly a decade after its 2017 launch, making it a logical candidate for the Definitive Edition treatment. The game’s open-world Bolivia setting and tactical gameplay continue to attract players across multiple platforms.
