The Guild Movie Hits Kickstarter Goal In Less Than 5 Hours

Felicia Day’s Kickstarter campaign to reunite the original cast of the 2007 web series The Guild for a 20th anniversary movie exceeded its $1.5 million funding goal in less than five hours, raising $1.65 million from over 9,000 backers on July 20.

The film, titled The Guild: Ren Faire’d, will feature the original cast in a story set within the Renaissance Faire world. Day launched the independent crowdfunding campaign after rejecting a Hollywood pitch to create a new version of The Guild with younger cast members. She declined to surrender creative control over the series that launched her career, choosing instead to pursue the project on her own terms.

With 32 days remaining in the campaign, the Kickstarter is positioned to significantly exceed its initial goal. The film is scheduled for 2027 release and aims to honor the legacy that established The Guild as a pioneering web series while welcoming new audiences to the gaming community story.
