Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link may have been cancelled, but that hasn’t stopped footage of Keyblade-wielding astronauts from leaking online

Footage from the cancelled Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link mobile game has surfaced online, offering fans their first glimpse of the never-released title. The game, announced in 2022 for iOS and Android, was cancelled after years of development—but newly leaked cinematic footage reveals what Square Enix chose to shelve.

The leaked opening sequence depicts an unconventional sci-fi scenario: astronaut or scuba diver-like characters equipped with jetpacks and wielding Keyblades engage in combat with Darkside, a giant Heartless creature. The cinematic shows the characters sacrificing themselves in battle before a sole survivor defeats the monster, after which the scene transitions to Quadratum, the setting of Kingdom Hearts 4. The sequence concludes with a mysterious exchange of letters between researchers in white lab coats and a figure in a tricorne hat.

The leak has delighted Kingdom Hearts fans and sparked widespread regret over the cancellation. The polished cinematics demonstrate that Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link had reached an advanced stage of development, suggesting the game was nearly complete when Square Enix discontinued the project. The footage has intensified fan speculation about what the game might have offered and renewed calls for the publisher to reconsider releasing the finished content.
