Masters of the Universe Is Coming to Prime Video This Week
Amazon announced that Masters of the Universe, the live-action He-Man reboot directed by Travis Knight, will arrive on Prime Video on Wednesday, July 22, 2026—less than two months after its theatrical release through Sony Pictures and Amazon MGM. The accelerated streaming debut follows disappointing box office performance, with the film earning $113 million globally against a reported budget of approximately $200 million.
Despite commercial underperformance, the reboot received strong critical reception, scoring 67% on Rotten Tomatoes and 86% on the audience-voted Popcornmeter. IGN gave the film an 8/10 review, praising its respect for Mattel’s iconic toy line and source material. The film stars Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam of Eternia and adapts the beloved 1980s animated series.
The rapid pivot to streaming reflects an industry trend of struggling theatrical releases finding second life on subscription platforms. For audiences who skipped the theatrical run, Prime Video offers convenient access to the science-fiction adaptation without a theater visit.
