Edge of Memories developer Midgar Studio is being liquidated
French game developer Midgar Studio has been ordered into liquidation by a French court, following its parent company Nacon’s insolvency filing in February 2026. The Montpellier-based studio, known for developing Edge of Memories, becomes the latest casualty in a challenging period for the video game industry.
Nacon’s Chief Technology Officer Jérémy Zeler-Maury announced the closure via LinkedIn, revealing that the company made a concerted effort to preserve Midgar by finding a buyer. However, these efforts ultimately proved unsuccessful due to time and financial constraints.
“Over the past few weeks, we worked until the very end to find a solution that could preserve both the company and the team,” Zeler-Maury stated. “Despite every avenue explored and everyone who tried to help us, no solution could be completed within the timeframe of the process.”
The closure impacts the team at Midgar Studio and represents another significant event within the industry, as numerous studios have faced closure or substantial workforce reductions in recent months. The fate of ongoing or future projects remains unclear.
