Modern Warfare 4 open and closed beta dates announced, including for Switch 2, alongside the return of Call of Duty: Next
Activision has announced the beta testing schedule for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, alongside confirming the return of the Call of Duty: Next event. The event, scheduled for August 21st, will be held entirely online as a global event, serving as the official debut platform for multiplayer gameplay and featuring developer briefings followed by live gameplay from content creators.
The Modern Warfare 4 beta is split across two weekends, providing players with different access levels. The early access beta runs from August 21-25 and is exclusive to players who pre-order the game. This phase will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Following this, an open beta launches on August 28th and runs through September 1st, free and available to all players regardless of pre-order status. The open beta will be accessible across all platforms, including the Switch 2 handheld console.
One of the new features players will experience during the beta is a new game mode referred to as “slaying slab mode,” which will be available for testing. This gives players and the community an early opportunity to provide feedback on gameplay mechanics and balance before the full release.
The staggered approach allows pre-order customers a head start on experiencing the game while building anticipation through the subsequent open beta period. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 continues the franchise’s tradition of military-themed first-person shooter gameplay.
