MTG The Hobbit exclusive reveals Orcrist, Goblin-cleaver and Eagle of the Great Shelf
Magic: The Gathering is introducing a new equipment card for Orcrist, Goblin-cleaver, one of The Hobbit’s most iconic legendary swords. Orcrist was forged in the First Age and discovered by Thorin’s company in a trolls’ lair within J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit. This exclusive reveal marks an expansion of MTG’s Middle-earth crossover content, following the success of the previous Magic: The Gathering x Lord of the Rings collaboration.
The legendary blade represents another significant weapon from Tolkien’s universe coming to the trading card game. Glamdring, the other iconic sword from The Hobbit and wielded by Gandalf throughout the War of the Ring, already appeared as an equipment card in the earlier Lord of the Rings crossover set. With Orcrist’s inclusion, MTG continues to bring Middle-earth’s most memorable weapons into its card pool, alongside other legendary blades like Sting and Aragorn’s reforged Anduril, Flame of the West. The addition demonstrates Wizards of the Coast’s commitment to expanding The Hobbit crossover set and providing players with representations of the story’s most iconic elements.
