Robocop Gets New Reboot Series Coming to Prime Video
Amazon MGM Studios and production company Blumhouse Atomic Monster have officially greenlit an eight-episode RoboCop television series for Prime Video. The long-rumored project has been in development since Amazon’s acquisition of MGM in 2022, with the series now confirmed to move forward under a creative team combining franchise legacy with contemporary storytelling talent.
The series will be led by writer and showrunner Peter Ocko, known for his extensive work on acclaimed television properties including Pushing Daisies, The Office, Elementary, and Black Sails. Ocko brings over three decades of industry experience to the project.
James Wan, the renowned horror filmmaker behind The Conjuring universe—currently the highest-grossing horror intellectual property of all time—will serve as executive producer alongside Blumhouse Atomic Monster’s Michael Clear and Rob Hackett. Notably, Ed Neumeier, an original co-creator of the RoboCop franchise, is also attached as an executive producer, providing continuity with the source material.
According to the official announcement, the new RoboCop series will follow a narrative centered on a powerful robot implanted with the consciousness of a beloved fallen police officer. The story explores themes of technology and law enforcement when a tech conglomerate convinces the city to place this advanced robot on its police force.
The project represents a significant expansion of the RoboCop franchise into prestige television, combining Wan’s expertise in genre storytelling with Ocko’s pedigree in serialized drama. The involvement of Neumeier ensures the reboot maintains thematic and conceptual connection to the original property while allowing for fresh interpretations suited to contemporary television audiences.
