Windows 11 is one step closer to fixing laptop touchpads and the Start menu
Windows 11 is receiving several updates focused on improving user experience with touchpad controls and the Start menu. The latest Windows Insider builds introduce touchpad scroll speed settings and accelerated scrolling capabilities, addressing long-standing user frustration with laptop input methods. Additionally, new layout controls for the Start menu provide users with more customization options.
Microsoft released these updates as part of a series of five different Windows Insider Builds, deviating from the typical Friday release schedule. According to Microsoft, the company is actively “working on getting all flights back on track,” suggesting efforts to streamline the development and testing process.
The Windows Insider Program’s restructured approach means that many features in these latest builds have already undergone testing with specific user groups. However, the multiple build paths available through the program can make it challenging for users to track all available features and updates.
These improvements reflect Microsoft’s ongoing commitment to refining Windows 11’s core functionality. Touchpad improvements are particularly significant for laptop users who rely on precision input devices for daily work and navigation. The Start menu enhancements offer additional flexibility in how users organize and access their applications.
