We’ll Finally See The Witcher 3’s New Expansion Next Month

CD Projekt Red has announced that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s third major expansion, Songs of the Past, will be officially revealed at Gamescom 2026’s Opening Night Live ceremony next month. This marks the first public look at the expansion for the legendary 2015 action-RPG.

The expansion will launch in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms. CD Projekt Red is co-developing Songs of the Past with Fool’s Theory, a studio comprising industry veterans who previously worked on The Witcher 3. The expansion is being positioned as comparable in size to the beloved Blood and Wine expansion released over a decade ago.

This announcement marks the franchise’s continued momentum nearly 12 years after the original Witcher 3 released. Beyond the Opening Night Live presentation, the expansion will also feature a dedicated presence at Gamescom’s showfloor, where attendees can experience guided presentations at CD Projekt Red’s booth throughout the convention. Little additional information about the expansion’s story, gameplay features, or specific scope has been revealed, with the Gamescom showcase expected to provide the first detailed look at the project.
