‘Human Fall Flat 2 is cancelled. We are making Human Fall Flat 3:’ No Brakes Games founder looks back on a defining decade

No Brakes Games has announced that Human Fall Flat 2 is cancelled, with the studio pivoting to develop Human Fall Flat 3 instead. The announcement comes from founder Tomas Sakalauskas, who is reflecting on a defining decade for the indie developer.

The original Human Fall Flat has become a remarkable success story, amassing over 60 million players worldwide since its launch approximately a decade ago. The slapstick physics puzzler began as a solo passion project by Sakalauskas, starting as a prototype on Itch.io before evolving into a global phenomenon.

No Brakes Games has grown considerably from its indie origins, now employing 40 people dedicated to supporting the original game and developing its successor. The decision to skip Human Fall Flat 2 entirely and move directly to Human Fall Flat 3 represents a deliberate creative direction for the franchise’s future.

Sakalauskas reflects on lessons learned across the studio’s ten-year journey, including what drove the franchise’s unexpected growth from a solo developer’s side project to a multi-million player gaming phenomenon across multiple platforms.
