Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2’s Resolutions & Frame Rates Revealed
Konami has revealed the technical specifications for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, launching August 27th with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.
Performance varies across platforms. On Xbox Series X, MGS4 runs at 4K, 60fps, while Xbox Series S targets 1440p, 60fps (output resolutions; internal resolutions reach up to those targets). Nintendo Switch 2 achieves 60fps for both games in TV and handheld modes, but the original Switch is capped at 30fps. PS5 players will also see improvements, particularly for Peace Walker.
These new versions are ports rather than comprehensive remasters, though enhancements are present. The collection marks a significant milestone as MGS4 makes its first appearance on Xbox platforms after being exclusive to PlayStation 3. The varying performance targets reflect each platform’s capabilities, with Switch 2’s newer hardware enabling higher frame rates unavailable on the original Switch.
