NBA 2K27 Cover Athletes Revealed
NBA 2K27 has officially announced its cover athletes across three separate editions of the game. Victor Wembanyama, the San Antonio Spurs’ star and the NBA’s first-ever unanimous Defensive Player of the Year, will headline the standard edition. Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever, recognized as the 2024 Rookie of the Year, takes the cover of the deluxe edition. Derrick Rose rounds out the trio as the third cover athlete for the game’s premium edition.
The announcement marks the first official reveal for the upcoming basketball simulation, with 2K Sports promising to share full gameplay details and the premiere of the first gameplay trailer on July 28. NBA 2K27 is scheduled to release on September 4th.
A significant change for this year’s installment is that NBA 2K27 will be exclusive to PlayStation 5, marking the end of PlayStation 4 support. This represents a shift in the sports gaming landscape, as publishers traditionally support last-generation consoles longer than other genres. PlayStation 4 owners looking to continue the franchise will need to upgrade to PS5 hardware. The move follows industry trends of phasing out older console generations as the current generation matures.
