The new Warhammer Blood Bowl published by Slitherine will be out in fall, and I’m looking forward to it because I enjoy pain I guess
Slitherine will publish a new Warhammer Blood Bowl video game launching in fall. The announcement comes after a contentious history of digital adaptations of the tabletop sports board game, which is notorious for its punishing dice mechanics.
The most recent adaptation, Blood Bowl 3, published by Nacon, became known for its aggressive live-service monetization model featuring seasonal content and extensive microtransactions, drawing criticism from players. Prior to that, Cyanide developed two well-received versions of the game that, while featuring controversial DLC pricing at the time, are now viewed favorably in comparison to Blood Bowl 3’s approach.
The franchise’s digital legacy includes a 1990s adaptation by MicroLeague that gained infamy for its poor quality and barebones design. Despite this troubled history, anticipation exists for Slitherine’s incoming iteration, with fans hopeful that the new version will provide a more player-friendly experience than its immediate predecessor.
