Wreckreation 2 Announced With Former Burnout Boss Leading New Studio
Wreckreation 2 has been officially announced, marking a revival of the franchise after its troubled first outing. The sequel will be developed by newly formed studio When Turns Tide, led by Fiona Sperry, the former head of Criterion Games who oversaw multiple entries in the Burnout franchise.
The announcement comes after significant drama surrounding the original Wreckreation, which was published by THQ Nordic and developed by Three Fields Entertainment. Following the game’s 2025 release, the entire development team faced redundancy notices, and THQ Nordic ceased support for the title, suggesting the franchise had died with its launch.
Despite this setback, Sperry has established When Turns Tide to continue the series, staffing the studio with former Three Fields Entertainment developers who were previously laid off. This reunites the original team under new leadership and a fresh start.
Wreckreation 2 is confirmed for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. No specific release date has been announced yet.
