Xbox version of Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game delayed by over a month, less than 24 hours before launch

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game suffered a dramatic last-minute delay less than 24 hours before its planned July 23 launch. The Xbox Series X|S version has been postponed to September 3—approximately six weeks—due to “unforeseen circumstances on a backend feature,” according to publisher Paramount Games Studio.

The Nintendo Switch version will launch today as scheduled but with significant limitations. The Switch release is restricted to the Standard Edition only and will lack cross-play functionality with other platforms and language localization options beyond English. Paramount committed to bringing these features and Deluxe Edition upgrades to Switch in future updates.

PlayStation 5 and Windows PC versions remain unaffected and launch as planned today. Xbox players who pre-ordered will not have their purchases automatically cancelled, though they can manually cancel if desired. The announcement came mere hours after the official account was promoting the launch, creating a jarring experience for the community.

Developed by Gameplay Group International and published by Paramount Games, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is an Avatar: The Last Airbender fighting title. The last-minute delay highlights recurring challenges fighting game releases face on Xbox, where similar titles like Guilty Gear Strive have historically received significantly delayed ports.
