First Look at Warhammer Blood Bowl, the Free Overhaul for Blood Bowl 3 Due Out Fall 2026

Warhammer Blood Bowl, a free overhaul of Blood Bowl 3, has been officially re-announced by publisher Slitherine, arriving in fall 2026 across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. The re-announcement comes with new screenshots showcasing the game’s updated visuals and refined gameplay.

The transition marks a significant industry shift following the financial collapse of original publisher Nacon. Slitherine—already established in the Warhammer ecosystem through its work on Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector—acquired the Warhammer Blood Bowl license, publishing rights, and the game’s entire back catalog from Nacon’s defunct operations.

Developer Cyanide Studio, the series’ original architect, remains in place to shepherd the project forward. Rather than starting from scratch, the team will build upon the “solid foundations” of Blood Bowl 3, enhancing and refining the existing experience. A key update involves adopting the latest official ruleset from Games Workshop’s tabletop version, ensuring alignment between the digital and physical games.

This revitalization effort represents a lifeline for Blood Bowl 3, transforming what appeared to be a troubled launch into a fresh beginning under more stable stewardship. By preserving the core experience while updating rules and content, Slitherine and Cyanide aim to attract both veteran fantasy football players and newcomers to the strategic sport.
