The new D&D series includes legendary dragons and stats to use them at your table

Dungeons & Dragons fans will soon see legendary characters brought to life in Dark Horse Comics’ new Dungeons & Dragons series, launching in November. The series features Mordenkainen, a wizard created by D&D designer Gary Gygax for his original campaign and one of the franchise’s most iconic figures. Known for lending his name to numerous spells and serving as narrator for sourcebooks like Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes, the character assembles a team of renowned heroes from the Forgotten Realms to combat an apocalyptic draconic threat.

In this iteration, Mordenkainen has been stripped of his magical abilities, forcing him to depend on allies including Volo, a traveling scholar, and Tasha, a powerful witch. The series appears designed to bridge tabletop gameplay and comic narratives, as it will include game statistics for legendary dragons that players can use in their own D&D campaigns at the table.

The announcement represents Dark Horse Comics’ continued investment in D&D intellectual property, bringing together some of the franchise’s most recognizable characters for a new storyline. By incorporating playable dragon stats alongside the narrative, the series aims to engage both comic readers and active tabletop players, allowing fans to experience these legendary dragons both through the story and within their gaming sessions.
