MindsEye Adds a ‘Grenade Football’ Multiplayer Mode… For Some Reason
MindsEye has introduced a new multiplayer mode called “Grenade Football” as part of Update 8. The novel game mode brings an unconventional take to football, featuring 6v6 matches where players use grenade launchers to blast a ball into the net. The mode draws clear inspiration from Rocket League, though substituting physics-based vehicles with explosive weaponry and traditional sports equipment.
According to the official description, the mode encourages an “anything goes” approach: “Forget the rulebook. In MindsEye, football just got a lot more explosive. Grab a grenade launcher, line up your shot, and blast the ball into the net with your team. Multiplayer mayhem where every match comes down to who’s got the best aim.”
The addition has sparked skepticism from the community, with players expressing confusion about the creative direction. The announcement generated mixed reactions, as the grenade football concept appears to diverge significantly from MindsEye’s previous design philosophy. Despite the unconventional nature of the new mode, the developers have positioned it as a casual experience emphasizing skill with explosives rather than traditional sports mechanics.
