Rockstar Games Workers Union say their first meeting with the GTA 6 studio’s management was “a step in the right direction”

The Rockstar Games Workers Union, affiliated with the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB), has held its first official meeting with Rockstar Games management. The union, formed to represent developers at the GTA 6 studio, described the meeting as “a step in the right direction” in their efforts to secure voluntary recognition from the company.

During the initial meeting, the union successfully outlined the importance of worker representation and established a framework for future negotiations. Union representatives announced they have secured a “roadmap for a speedy negotiation process” with management, signaling that both parties are committed to moving the discussions forward constructively.

The primary objective for the union moving forward is to finalize agreement on a bargaining unit that would represent Rockstar Games workers in collective negotiations. This represents a significant moment for game industry labor organizing, as unionization efforts at major studios remain relatively uncommon. The union’s ability to achieve voluntary recognition from Rockstar Games management would be particularly notable given the company’s size and influence within the gaming industry.
