AMD launches the RX 9050, and it’s even more entry-level than expected
AMD has launched the RX 9050, an entry-level graphics card that is significantly more stripped-down than industry speculation had anticipated. The card features the Navi 44 GPU architecture and 1,024 cores—making it functionally equivalent to AMD’s 890M mobile GPU found in Strix Point processors, though with a dedicated desktop power budget of 92 watts. The RX 9050 includes RDNA 4 architecture and 32 MB of Infinity Cache. AMD has not yet announced pricing for the card, leaving questions about its market positioning unanswered. Industry observers are cautious about its value proposition, as the extremely modest specifications suggest it will compete primarily with integrated graphics and older entry-level discrete solutions. The gap between the RX 9050 and the more capable RX 9060 appears significantly larger than initially expected, indicating AMD’s focus on serving a lower-tier market segment.
