Ubisoft reportedly has yet another Far Cry game in development, but at least this one doesn’t appear to be in trouble

Ubisoft has another Far Cry game in active development, according to Insider Gaming. The project, codenamed Kodiak, recently entered development at Vantage Studios after completing its conception phase. Vantage Studios is a new subsidiary established by Ubisoft and Tencent specifically to focus on the company’s flagship franchises, including Far Cry.

The game is described as an open-world first-person shooter featuring player-driven interactions and gameplay mechanics. This announcement provides welcome news for the franchise, which has experienced a prolonged dormancy with multiple Far Cry projects facing significant development troubles in recent years. Unlike several other projects that encountered substantial production issues, Kodiak appears to be progressing smoothly through its development cycle.

While Ubisoft has maintained continuous work on new Far Cry titles, most have remained unreleased or encountered major obstacles. The establishment of Vantage Studios as a dedicated development hub signals that Ubisoft and Tencent are taking a structured approach to revitalizing the franchise and ensuring successful releases. With Kodiak now officially in active development, players may finally see a new mainline Far Cry release in the coming years, though no official release timeline has been announced.
