Final Fantasy 7 Revelation boss has been thinking about ways to make a mysterious boss suitable for the upcoming crossover raid with Final Fantasy 14
Final Fantasy 14’s upcoming Evercold expansion will feature an extensive crossover raid series dedicated to the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy. The collaboration will include 12 boss fights divided across three raid tiers, rolling out over the expansion’s planned two-to-three year lifespan.
According to Naoki Hamaguchi, director of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Revelation, the crossover took considerable time to coordinate between Square Enix’s teams. The developers have prioritized creating a unique experience rather than simply scaling up existing characters for MMO encounters. “Nobody wants to go in there and just see Cloud looking like Cloud, but massive,” Hamaguchi explained, highlighting the team’s effort to design encounters that feel fresh and distinctive to raiders.
The collaboration brings together FF14 director and producer Naoki Yoshida with Hamaguchi to coordinate the massive crossover. The raid series represents a significant expansion of integration between the two franchises, marking FF14’s formal incorporation of the FF7 remake universe into its MMO content.
The announcement confirms Square Enix’s commitment to ongoing content collaboration between two of its flagship franchises, with the raid series serving as the centerpiece of FF14’s Evercold expansion. Players can expect encounters that meaningfully interpret FF7 Rebirth and Revelation’s characters and storylines within the raid format.
