Resident Evil Movie Is Most Violent Thing Zach Cregger Has Ever Made — “You Gotta Go Grotesque”

Director Zach Cregger has revealed that his upcoming Resident Evil film adaptation is the most violent project he has ever created. In an interview with Empire, Cregger emphasized the extreme nature of the violence, stating that “you gotta go grotesque” and commit to going “all the way” in terms of graphic content. He described the resulting film as “gnarly,” “brutal,” and “a very bloody affair.”

Cregger’s reputation for depicting gore is well-established through his previous horror and thriller films, including Weapons and Barbarian. However, the Resident Evil adaptation apparently escalates beyond these earlier works. Beyond his directorial career, Cregger also developed a history of violent content during his comedy days with sketch group Whitest Kids ‘U Know, where he appeared in numerous sketches featuring extreme violence. Notable examples include “Sniper Business,” in which his character witnesses an intern being shot through the eye with a sniper rifle, and “Gallon of PCP,” in which he plays a character whose girlfriend has recently been beheaded by a drug dealer.
