Steam Machine reservation queue should be caught up by the end of 2026, Valve says

Valve has announced that it is fulfilling Steam Machine orders on a daily basis and expects to clear its entire reservation queue by the end of 2026. The company introduced a lottery-based system for determining purchase priority when it announced the Steam Machine in June. Signups for the reservation queue remained open through June 25, after which all entries were randomly ordered to establish a reservation queue. Those who ranked higher in the lottery received reserved purchasing access, while others were placed on a waitlist for future opportunities.

According to Valve’s latest statement, the current daily fulfillment rate should allow everyone in the queue to have their opportunity to purchase a Steam Machine within the next six months. Whether the timeline is viewed as good or bad news depends on individual circumstances—those near the front of the queue will receive their machines relatively soon, while those deeper in the queue face several additional months of waiting.

The lottery system represents Valve’s approach to managing demand during a period of apparently limited production capacity. By randomizing entries rather than using a first-come, first-served model, the company sought to ensure fairness among all interested parties in the queue.
