After dissolution of the original team, a Wuchang: Fallen Feathers sequel has been confirmed with the original creative director at the helm

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, a successful Chinese soulslike released in July 2025, is getting a sequel despite turbulent behind-the-scenes circumstances. The original game achieved over five million players across all platforms and attracted over 130,000 concurrent players on Steam at launch, making it a significant commercial success despite mixed critical reception.

However, the game’s future became uncertain when original developer Leenzee disbanded following the departure of creative director and lead producer Xia Siyuan, who was reportedly fired earlier this year. Multiple team members were subsequently laid off or let go, leaving the series in limbo.

In April 2026, the Wuchang intellectual property was acquired by Digital Bros—the parent company of publisher 505 Games—for approximately €4 million. Now, with the IP secured, a sequel has been officially announced. Xia Siyuan has founded a new studio called Indolphinity (formally known as Chengdu Recursive Dolphin Technology Company), which has entered into a development and publishing agreement with 505 Games to create the next chapter of the Wuchang series. The announcement signals that despite the dissolution of its original development team, the franchise will continue with its creator back at the helm.
