Halo: Campaign Evolved doesn’t have split-screen on PC, but this mod fixes that, if you’re willing to look past some quirks

Halo: Campaign Evolved has launched on PC and consoles, but the PC version has a notable feature gap compared to its console counterparts. While PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S users can enjoy split-screen co-op gameplay, the PC version launched without this functionality, restricting PC players to online co-op only.

The modding community has quickly responded to address this limitation. Within days of the game’s release, a mod became available on Nexus Mods that enables local split-screen co-op on PC, allowing players to experience the campaign the same way console players can.

Beyond the split-screen solution, the modding community is actively developing various other enhancements for the game, including performance optimizations and graphical tweaks—a typical pattern for newly released titles. However, the community is also grappling with concerns about AI-generated content appearing in the mod ecosystem. One early mod, the “Chipmunk Edition,” raised questions about whether AI tools were used to alter in-game audio, with the mod’s creator showing AI-generated music videos on their YouTube channel. This has prompted warnings for players to be cautious when browsing mods, as distinguishing AI-created content from traditional modding work has become increasingly challenging.

The split-screen mod addresses a frustrating inconsistency between platforms, giving PC players access to a feature that console players have enjoyed since launch, though users should be aware of the mod’s potential quirks before installation.
