Nvidia GPUs see yet another price hike of up to 30 percent, as the generative AI hardware crisis worsens

Nvidia has announced its third price increase of 2026, raising GPU prices by 20-30 percent across its entire graphics card lineup. The price hike, reported by Taiwan’s Economic Daily News, marks a significant expansion from previous increases that only affected high-end models like the RTX 5090. This time, all GPUs utilizing both GDDR6 and GDDR7 memory will see price increases.

The company has already notified graphics card manufacturers (AIB partners) of the planned adjustment. The increases are attributed to rising DRAM and memory costs, part of an ongoing memory crisis that has continued to impact hardware pricing. The move comes as demand for GPUs remains extraordinarily high, driven by generative AI investment and development.

The price adjustments are already creating market turbulence. Graphics card distributors in China are reportedly in a “state of panic, reluctant to sell,” reflecting concerns about the broader affordability crisis in personal computing hardware. After relative price stability over the past 20 weeks, these increases signal a significant shift in the GPU market landscape, continuing an upward trend in hardware costs over the last 18 months.
