Old School RuneScape players are getting their boats stuck Suez Canal-style thanks to a narrow river in its new island: ‘Helmp mee’
Old School RuneScape released a new content update featuring Wyrmscraig, a player-designed island with a new quest, repeatable boss encounter, and unique sword. The island can be accessed via sea using the game’s sailing skill, which includes realistic steering mechanics that require time to turn ships.
However, players have discovered a design issue: the narrow river leading to Wyrmscraig Cavern is so tight that ships frequently become stuck, unable to navigate through due to the game’s sailing physics simulation. The incident has drawn comparisons to the 2021 Suez Canal blockade, with players humorously requesting help in the in-game chat.
The steering mechanics in OSRS actually simulate realistic turning times, meaning ships cannot make sharp turns instantly. This creates genuine navigation challenges in tight waterways, and players attempting to reach the new dungeon have found themselves trapped in the narrow passage. The issue highlights an unintended consequence of the game’s commitment to realistic sailing physics when combined with narrow level design.
