AMD Reportedly Plans to Raise GPU Prices, Too

AMD has informed its AIB (board manufacturer) partners that it will raise GPU prices by at least 10% beginning next month, according to industry analyst Harukaze5719. The price increase is attributed to the ongoing global memory crisis driven by surging AI demand for GPUs and memory components.

The move follows Nvidia’s own graphics card price increases announced earlier in the week. According to reports, AMD had finalized plans for the price hike but delayed implementation until after Nvidia committed to its increases, citing concerns about weak consumer graphics card market recovery, high price sensitivity among end users, and existing inventory that still needs to be cleared.

It’s important to note that the increases represent supplier-side pricing adjustments to AIB partners, not necessarily direct consumer retail prices. However, wholesale price hikes typically cascade through to end consumers, though the full 10% increase may not always be passed along directly.

This pricing pressure comes shortly after AMD introduced a new 4GB graphics card option, a move that reflected the ongoing shortage of higher-capacity memory. The convergence of AI infrastructure demand consuming significant GPU and VRAM inventory, combined with constrained supply, continues to pressure the consumer graphics card market as manufacturers adjust pricing in response to market conditions.
