Booster Gold TV Show Writer Says His DC Series ‘Won’t Be Moving Forward’

David Jenkins, creator of “Our Flag Means Death,” has announced his departure from DC’s upcoming Booster Gold television series. Jenkins took to social media to declare that “My Booster Gold won’t be moving forward,” following his assignment to the project, which he took over from Danny McBride in 2025.

However, the project is not fully shelved. According to reports, DC Studios plans to continue developing the Booster Gold series with a new creative team. The leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran will seek fresh creative direction for the property, though details on who may be involved remain unclear.

Booster Gold was originally announced as part of DC Studios’ comprehensive 2023 restart of its cinematic universe. The project was included in the initial slate alongside major releases like Superman and the HBO series Lanterns, as part of the plan titled “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.” The series would have adapted the time-traveling superhero who originates from a futuristic Gotham City.

Currently, the Booster Gold television series remains without a lead actor cast or an official release date. Jenkins’ departure suggests the project faces delays as DC Studios searches for new creative leadership to helm the adaptation. The transition to an unknown new creative team introduces uncertainty about the show’s timeline and creative direction, though DC’s commitment to developing the project indicates it remains an active part of their television slate.
