Tangled Set Leaks Show First Look at Live-Action Rapunzel and Flynn Rider
Disney’s live-action adaptation of Tangled is currently in active production, with exclusive set photos providing the first glimpse of the film’s main cast in costume. Teagan Croft, known for her acclaimed role in DC’s Titans, has been cast as Rapunzel and was recently photographed on the Spanish set wearing the character’s signature purple dress and a notably long blonde wig. Milo Manheim, recognized from the Disney Channel’s Zombies franchise, will portray Flynn Rider and was spotted wearing the character’s iconic blue waistcoat, complete with period-appropriate styling.
The live-action remake is scheduled for theatrical release in 2027. The project represents Disney’s continued strategy of adapting its classic animated films into live-action experiences, though the company’s recent efforts in this space have faced decidedly mixed results. Both the Moana and Cinderella live-action remakes were subject to critical scrutiny and underperformed commercially, raising legitimate questions about audience appetite for further high-profile adaptations. Disney executives will be hoping that Tangled can reverse this concerning trend and achieve both critical acclaim and commercial success.
The casting of Croft and Manheim marks a significant departure from the original animated film’s voice cast, introducing fresh talent and new interpretations of these beloved characters as Disney continues its ambitious expansion into live-action cinema.
