Two Unreleased Virtual Boy Games Are Coming To Nintendo Switch Online

Two previously unreleased Virtual Boy games will launch on Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass on August 4, 2026. The titles are D-Hopper (originally titled Dragon Hopper), a fantasy action-adventure game, and Zero Racers, a racing game inspired by the SNES classic F-Zero.

Both games were originally developed and scheduled for release in 1996 but were canceled when Nintendo discontinued the Virtual Boy console following its commercial failure. Three decades later, these lost titles are finally becoming playable through Nintendo’s Switch Online subscription service, representing a significant moment for game preservation.

D-Hopper follows a prince on a quest to overthrow an evil regime and rescue his loved ones, fairies, and elemental spirits from captivity. Zero Racers delivers the high-speed racing experience that F-Zero fans would recognize, bringing arcade racing gameplay to Virtual Boy-era hardware.

Nintendo added the Virtual Boy to Switch Online + Expansion Pack in February 2026, initially launching with seven titles. The company promised to release additional games, including previously unreleased titles. These two games represent the first fulfillment of that commitment, offering modern players a chance to experience gaming history that would have otherwise remained permanently locked away in Nintendo’s archives.
