Final Fantasy 7 Director Discusses Final Fantasy 14 Crossover
Final Fantasy 7 director Naoki Hamaguchi has revealed details about the upcoming crossover between the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy and Final Fantasy 14, confirming collaboration on a new raid experience. The crossover was announced in July at the Final Fantasy 14 Fan Festival in Berlin and will launch as part of the Evercold expansion.
The crossover content, titled “Beyond the Lifestream,” is a substantial raid featuring three separate tiers, each offering three difficulty options. A new difficulty setting will bridge the gap between the standard Normal and Savage difficulty tiers, providing an intermediate progression path for players seeking a middle ground. This structured approach aims to accommodate players of varying skill levels.
Notably, Kazushige Nojima, who served as the original writer for Final Fantasy 7, has been brought on as the story supervisor for the raid, ensuring narrative continuity and authenticity. This involvement signals Square Enix’s commitment to honoring the source material and delivering a story-driven experience that resonates with fans of both franchises.
The crossover represents a significant expansion of Final Fantasy 14’s raid offerings and strengthens the connections within the broader Final Fantasy universe. By bringing iconic FF7 Remake content into the MMORPG, Square Enix continues its strategy of creating substantial crossover events that drive engagement and celebrate its major franchises.
