Report: FIFA World Cup developer Refactor Games shuttered by Delphi Interactive
Refactor Games, a US-based sports game developer, has been shut down by part-owner Delphi Interactive shortly after launching FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition on Netflix Games in June 2026. Multiple former employees confirmed the closure through LinkedIn announcements.
Delphi Interactive pulled funding immediately following the game’s launch, according to former staffers who spoke on condition of anonymity. The decision to terminate the studio’s contract came without warning, resulting in the majority of staff being let go. The exact number of affected employees remains unclear.
Refactor Games was founded by industry veterans including former developers from EA Sports, 2K Sports, and OneTeam Partners. The studio’s debut project, Football Simulator, entered early access in 2022. FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition marked their first major commercial release. While Netflix called the game a “top tier” performer, it received mixed critical reception, with reviewers citing issues with controls, graphics, and player presentation.
