Warhammer 40,000 Animated Series Produced by Henry Cavill to Tell a ‘Long-Form Story’ Featuring The Deathwatch
Amazon is developing a long-form animated series based on Warhammer 40,000, with The Deathwatch faction at its center. Expanding on the Warhammer 40,000 episode from Secret Level, Amazon’s 2024 animated anthology series, the new project represents a continuation of Games Workshop and Amazon’s collaboration to bring the grimdark science fiction universe to screen.
The series will be directed by Dave Wilson, who helmed the original Secret Level episode, and co-created by John Orloff, writer of Band of Brothers. Blur Studios, which provided animation for the Secret Level episode, will handle animation for the new series as well.
Henry Cavill is attached as executive producer, bringing star power to the Warhammer 40,000 cinematic universe initiative. The long-form series marks a significant expansion of the animated adaptation, moving beyond the anthology format to tell an extended narrative set within the Warhammer 40K universe. This announcement continues Games Workshop’s efforts to expand the tabletop gaming franchise into premium screen entertainment.
