Final Fantasy VII Revelation Director Assures Fans That The Base Game Will Conclude The Story
Final Fantasy VII Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi has addressed fan concerns about the conclusion of the main story in the third entry of the remake series. In a recent interview promoting the game, Hamaguchi reassured the community that the base game will provide a complete conclusion to the narrative, rather than ending on a cliffhanger.
The clarification comes following reports that Square Enix has expressed interest in post-launch DLC for Revelation. Fans had worried this might signal that the main story would intentionally remain unresolved in the base game, with plot resolution deferred to paid DLC content. Hamaguchi’s statement directly addresses these concerns by confirming the core story will reach a definitive ending with the initial release.
According to the director, any additional content being considered beyond the base game would be classified as spin-offs rather than continuations of the main narrative. This approach aims to separate optional supplementary content from the primary story experience, allowing players to feel satisfied with their purchase of the base game while leaving room for the studio to expand the Final Fantasy VII Remake universe with additional projects if desired.
