Mafia: The Old Country - Man of Honor will change its open world
Mafia: The Old Country’s upcoming Man of Honor expansion will significantly enhance the game’s open world experience. The base game, while praised for its compelling single-player story set in Sicily, launched with a relatively empty open world that lacked engaging activities and content compared to contemporary titles like Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2.
Developer Hangar 13 has already taken steps to improve the open world through the Free Ride update released in November, which introduced new activities and gameplay modes. The Man of Honor expansion builds upon these improvements, further fleshing out Sicily’s open world with additional depth and things to do.
The expansion will feature returning character Salieri, who plays a major role in the new content. According to design director Josh Zammit’s gameplay overview, the expansion aims to bring the Free Ride mode more in line with other leading sandbox games, promising players a more robust endgame experience that goes beyond the game’s core story-driven campaign.
This expansion represents a continued effort by Hangar 13 to address launch concerns about the open world’s scope and activity variety, potentially making Mafia: The Old Country a more complete package for players seeking a longer-lasting experience.
